Lightly Seared on the Reality Grill

Teacher says:
I like ‘em well-done,
no pink or blood for me!
Shoe leather, some contend,
but not if pounded soft by hard knocks,
tenderized by acid-tongue marinade,
stung by hot spice—
only way there’s flavor. 
None of this lightly seared business for me!
I’ll shove ‘em off the plate onto the fire,
smoke ‘em up, roast ‘em long,
serve ‘em with a side of bitter greens. 
Hell…
searing’s only the first step.
